Denzel's Dangerous Goods 9.4 9.0 9.3 9.03
Overflowing with ample flavour and tongue-searing heat, Denzel's Dangerous Goods is a hot sauce to be reckoned with - and for once, a sauce that lives up to it's name. It's hot, and tasty, and that's no exaggeration - this sauce is sweet with a distinct fruit aroma and full Habanero flavour. Denzel has done it again with this unique habanero goodness in a bottle; this sauce is fabulous in every way imaginable. Carefully apply this sauce to great, big, heavy slabs of charred meat - steaks, pork, lamb, roasts - or pizza, pastas - you name it. Douse it on thick or thin, but warn the unwary - your tongue will love you and hate you at the same time! Two thumbs up - way up!

Blazing Inferno Island Pepper Sauce 9.0 9.0 9.3 8.99
Friends of ours brought this back from Barbados, now i'm wishing they brought back more. This stuff is good - really, really good! It's pretty darn hot, but the Habanero flavour is what really stands out. I've nearly finished the bottle, and now i'm carefully rationing the last few drops. This sauce has the two key attributes - great flavour and a lot of heat. It tastes awesome, and it's hot enough that it'll leave your tongue throbbing and your eyes watering. I want more!

Arizona Pepper's Organic Jalapeno Pepper Sauce 5.2 9.7 9.6 8.96
When I was first presented with this sauce, I was immediately put off by the "organic" slogan splashed all over the label. While I appreciate the trend towards "organic" foods, I really feel discouraged when they need to be "certified organic". But my personal grievances aside, when I did eventually sample this sauce I was totally blown away. It is similar in consistency to that of a good quality Louisiana hot sauce, or perhaps slightly thicker, and with a distinctly different flavor. While the sauce is mild, there's just enough heat to wake up your tastebuds; and it's mild enough that the delicious jalapeno flavor precipitates throughout your meal without overpowering it. Overall I found the sauce somewhat thin and a bit salty - similar again to many Louisiana hot sauces. I particularly enjoyed it with foods like BBQ chicken, brushed onto beef or veggie burgers, some pasta dishes, and on most Mexican foods - in particular, Enchiladas. This is one sauce I will definitely be buying again. I really recommend this sauce. If you have the opportunity, give it a try - it's fantastic.

Melinda's Naga Jolokia 10.0 8.6 9.2 8.94
In 2011, I had the pleasure of sampling a Bhut Jolokia chili (aka Ghost Pepper) for the first time. Although I wisely tried only a small amount, I was astounded at the incredible heat level. So when I was presented with a bottle of hot sauce containing the feared and revered ingredient, I wasn't entirely sure how to go about properly sampling it.

Ultimately a direct taste test involving a few drops on a teaspoon rekindled my memory of the unrelenting firey pain that is synonymous with licking fresh magma, or perhaps burning napalm. First impression is a distict burst of searing pain that lingers long after the initial needle-like acrimonious flash of anguish that serves as a prolonged reminder of the foolish and pain-filled quest that you have embarked upon. After awhile the agony subsides, and the remenants of the flavour of this unique Jolokia chili struggle to make themselves known; you are tempted for a second taste.

Although I do know of a few sauces that incorporate the infamous and fiendish ingredient, Melinda's Naga Jolokia hot sauce is the first I've tried that incorporates it and thankfully tries to accentuate it's flavor instead of just presenting the raw chili heat as a challenge to the reckless or foolhardy. I found the added ingredients in the sauce (carrots, lime juice, papayas, onions and passion fruit) complimented the raw heat quite nicely, and allowed the the sauce to be enjoyed for it's flavor as well as it's heat. If you enjoy very, very hot sauces, this one most certainly should be on your list. Consume in very small amounts, and only with extreme caution!

Blair's Original Death Sauce 8.6 9.1 9.2 8.93
I've been putting off trying the Blair's series of sauces for awhile now. Not only did they sound really, really hot - which to be honest isn't my primary criteria in a sauce - but they also seemed to have a "gimmicky" feel (eg, the skull keyring). But after finally taking the plunge and trying a bottle of Blair's Original, I gladly admit that I was wrong. When I first sampled this sauce, it caught me completely off-guard and changed my mind forever. To put it simply, the flavour is amazing, and it's spicy but not so hot that it totally masks the taste - the heat and flavour are in perfect balance! This is one sauce i'm going to keep handy for the next few weeks while I try it on everything I eat. Delicious and awesome... what else can I say.

Denzel's Gourmet Habanero 9.4 9.0 9.1 8.93
Okay, this has to be one of the best hot sauces on the planet! Not only is it extremely hot but the flavour is fantastic. I've only had this sauce for a fortnight and it's nearly gone. All my guests that try it comment on it's flavour and heat combo, and it's become a regular on the table. The best part is that it's made right here in BC! How cool is that!

Prarie Fire 8.5 9.3 9.1 8.92
This sauce is awesome! It's thick and full of chili goodness, and another tongue roasting Canadian concoction that belongs on every dinner table from Vancouver to St. John's. It goes well with almost every possible meal - beef, lamb, pork, turkey, chicken, salmon, tuna, rabbit, boar, buffalo, kangaroo, wombat, amazonian winged muskrat - and packs huge flavor and an equally huge punch. Absolutely delicious, and as a side bonus, it's just hot enough to suitably mask the flavor of your great aunt's "veggie meatloaf"... anything that can do that is all good in my books.

Dave's Jump Up and Kiss Me 7.5 8.4 9.5 8.80
A sauce that grows on you, the taste is unique and the balance of heat and flavour is exquisite! It offers a thick herb flavor that brings out nuances of foods like none other; and is a perfect compliment to vegetarian and meat dishes. Brush it on chicken or pork before serving, or mix it into a dipping sauce to add a wonderful exotic dimension to your meal!

Arizona Gunslinger Habanero Pepper Sauce 9.1 9.0 8.9 8.80
Thick and hot, this sauce hits you with a strong and delicious flavor that doesn't overpower your food. I particularly like the blend of Habanero and Jalapeno chilis, which imparts a unique but distinct blend of heat and flavor that I find particularly suitable for foods such as burgers, kebabs and BBQ chicken. I found the addition of the glued-on cowboy hat on the cap unnecessary, but i'm sure as a marketing - umm aid - it works. Personally, i'm quite happy with what's in the bottle - a bold, powerful sauce that you will definitely enjoy, it tastes great, and it stays put on your food. And it's got plenty of kick; this is definitely one of the hotter sauces i've tried.

Kiss of Fire 9.6 8.0 9.3 8.79
An extremely potent Habanero sauce with a rich, deep flavor and tongue-searing heat. This brilliant orange sauce is thick and delicious, and the expected Habanero taste certainly doesn't dissapoint. With a heat rating almost off of the scale, this is among the hottest of sauces I have ever encountered, yet the fantastic flavor keeps bringing me back for more. This is definately one of my favorite sauces of all time! Be forewarned, however, that an asbestos-lined digestive tract is required to truly enjoy this magnificent sauce! Highly recommended for both flavor and heat!

Byron Bay Red Cayenne Chilli Sauce With Lime 7.0 8.5 9.5 8.77
This is one of two hot sauces I picked up in Australia when we were visiting in January 2007, and I'm glad I did. I really like this sauce! It has a musky bold chilli flavor and enough heat to really score major points with everyone who has sampled it so far. The sauce is thick and bursting with flavor. It does have whole chili seeds so be careful, but I think that this is a desired attribute as it helps bolster the flavor and texture of this wonderful sauce. Keep up the good work guys! PS. This sauce is phenomenal on pizza!

Fear Itself 7.5 8.5 9.2 8.67
A powerful sauce that captures both the awesome flavor and heat of Habaneros, this sauce's bold smokey flavor is not for the faint of heart. It works well in or on almost anything, but is definately most suited to meats, lending a spark and a shot of flavor to your favorite dishes. Splash it on bland foods to bring them to life in a way you could never imagine. Very highly recommended! Two thumbs up!
